Make demos completely separate repo. #74

Since you recommend installing via maven, and not building from scratch, it would be helpful if the demos did exactly that, instead of being part of the larger build.

Even after building on Mac (haven't performed the Linux or Windows builds yet). Getting the demos working is turning out to be a chore.

Step by step instructions would be helpful
