disappearing players?

when you move a certain way, you can no longer see the player even though you know they're still there, like when you don't visually see their character, their name tag is gone and they become invisible, also can y'all disable the in range players thing to be able to tp to them, message them etc, like pretend you were at spawn or something and your friend was in the wild, it would say player not found even though they are on, thank you :)))

I remembering this happening in previous versions. i think its just a mismatch of 2 players having different versions (ie: player one has 1.11 and player two has 1.11.2)
