Half the times a three-finger click will just trigger a right-click, as if it was a 2 finger click. I'm using a trackpad, Catalina 10.15.1. Does this happen to anyone else?

It's inconsistent for me as it middle-clicks in some apps like Safari, but not where I need it to in Maya. (Option + Middle Click is needed for Navigation.) It's really all I need a mouse for, and this would be great if it worked.

MiddleClick works across the entire system, this application does not implement additional actions for individual applications.

I couldn't recreate your issue. Can you tell us more about when this happens?

For me with the "3 Finger Tap", it always performs both the actions, the middle-click as well as the left-click. Am I supposed to switch off the left-click tap with this tool? I am on 10.15.3.

I have this problem as well. Using the default three finger click on a Macbook Pro force touch trackpad (multiple models). Sometimes I get a middle click and sometimes I get a right click.

It seems to be very sensitive to finger placement. For example, whether I get a middle or right click, if I click repeatedly without moving my fingers, I always get the same click. But if I move my fingers very slightly, I may get a different click. I suspect that my fingers are somehow in the "wrong" position to be considered a three finger click. But this is very different from the Mac OS three finger swipe detection which seems to be activated by any three touch points, no matter their position.

Example

This 👇 is detected as a middle click.

right-click

This 👇 is detected as a right click (notice the index finger is moved slightly away from the middle finger).

middle-click

Let me know if there's anything else I can provide to help diagnose.
