The arrows on the sides - a good old school. But besides this, you can make a modern way to demonstrate the possibility of dragging as on the Moniker website: http://www.monikersf.com

That example website is already expired. The idea was to tease little “parts” of next/previous pictures with animation (showing or hiding behind the gallery sides).
