Cluster toggling language #71

Let’s nail down the wording for all of those before making any changes.

homepage with highlights

https://collection.cooperhewitt.org/ CH is really good at using informal and informative language

I quoted collection highlights because I'm not sure anybody but us knows what that means. There’s no map on that panel so there's plenty of room to say more:

You're viewing the MIA Collection Highlights, works from the collection called out by our curators as {special,exemplary,really great,…}

whatever the criteria are. "Why should I care?"

This is also the only place we have any text on the home screen, so maybe it’s a good place to step back and also explain what "ArtStories" are? Why are these 80 objects special? &c

Thanks, Kjell. I think we can dig into the "why" more on a splash page, but for now let's use Collection Highlights as a proper term and do some testing with that language to see if visitors understand it or not.

I agree that CH has a great, informal voice - but it doesn't feel like the same voice as the MIA. Let's run it by Tim.

Asking Tim for words is a good idea.

We also need to emphasize that by default we're showing a sliver of the ArtStories, and we want people to tap this and keep looking. I though about putting numbers in

Showing 20 ArtStories near G236 There are 60 more! See all of them

These are the MIA's 26 Collection Highlights We have 50 more ArtStories Explore

Or maybe "Explore 50 more ArtStories"

I contacted Tim for some ideas, so I'll hope to report back with suggestions. Thanks!

"Them" perhaps a bit too informal? Enough to where it leaves you asking, "Wait, who is 'them' again?"

How about "See all Stories" ?

mtongen commented 9 years ago

Agreed. We'll see what Tim suggests and go from there. Thanks!
