Tracing support

This PR has some fixes and mainly removes the old logging framework in favor of sophisticated distributed tracing.

Changelog

Remove log, add tracing including trace-logs for each function enter / exit
Add debug / error / trace events to all major code points
Added keep-alive message handling for notifications
Switch to panic=abort in release mode to force a full restart on syncing error
Remove unused imports in Dockerfile, switch to base alpine:3.18 to reduce container size
Fix: Concurrency issue with missing persistence on startup
