You need this program to write .img files to usb stick or sd card
https://launchpad.net/win32-image-writer
Note: you will lose all data on stick and your size will reduce to some strange
size, to recover to full size you will need to format in android or maybe
linux?? windows will not format to correct size

@ redmax82 your comment 2 implied the iso burning method doesnt work, this is
not correct.
the issue you describe later seems to be another issue, i suggest you give in
detail the steps you are going through
i have a vpad and earlier images and the new build (16/12 - thanks Al) all work
fine

Where did you get the the ISO?

There is no ISO for the VP10 because the VP10 does not come with a CD Drive.
There is only an IMG file which is designed to written to a USB stick using the
methods in the "Testing" section of the documentation on the Android-x86.org
site (http://www.android-x86.org/getsourcecode#Testing).
Win32 Image Writer will write USB images to USB sticks. Please read it's web
page for more info.
I'm closing this bug as this is now a support issue and not a bug or feature
enhancement. Support issues should be discussed on the Android x86 mailing list
at http://groups.google.com/group/android-x86
