Actual Instrument:

• मैंने चाभी से दरवाज़े को खोला।

Impelled agents take instrumental case but require an indirect causative verb:

• मैंने मालिक से दरवाज़े को खुलवाया।

Impelled agents can take instruments of their own, but have to take another instrument-type postposition to do so:

• मैंने मालिक के द्वारा चाभी से दरवाज़े को खुलवाया।
