Hi,

I would like to see this page available in Polish. I have extracted the texts, the sound files might take some more time and work. Before I do this, I have a question:

Would you consider updating the page to support multiple languages? I'm unfamiliar with the PWA-stuff, so I don't know if adding another language would be much work.

In any case, please let me know.

Hi Bartosz, I'm so happy someone knows about this site nearly 2 years later LOL.

You don't need to know what a PWA is, and you only need a tiny amount of HTML knowledge to change the files. But it would still be pretty difficult.

1. If you only want to translate the datapoints: You simply need to change the files present in the zero-dawn and zero-dawn/frozen-wilds folders. For example, zero-dawn/audio/ contains all of the audio logs in .mp3 format. zero-dawn/texts/Audio.json contains all the audio transcriptions, and so on.
2. If you want to translate the entire site, including the menu: You can change the HTML files like index.html along with the datapoints. Unfortunately, to support different languages you would need to do this entire process multiple times for each language and then link to the page from index.html, which is incredibly time-consuming.

In your use case you can follow the second point, and update all of the HTML files to be in Polish. I would LOVE to keep working on this project but I can hardly find the time for it anymore, and I'm afraid there's not much interest in this site nowadays.

But feel free to clone this repository and modify it however you wish. Let me know if I can help out in any way :)

Hi,

The Horizon series is also one of the best I’ve ever had the chance to experience, and I’ve experienced quite a lot. This site strikes me as a so-called “Passion Project,” I like it very much. The fact that it’s rarely visited doesn’t matter – it’s a gem, one of a kind. :)

Back to the updates... I started painstakingly translating the files but realized it was pointless. Since translating the site into any language requires a lot of work anyway, a much better solution would be to add multilingual support to the site and minimize the effort needed to create additional translations.

So, I did what I thought was right:

• The source texts have been completely replaced with data extracted directly from the game
• As a result, the base text now includes stylistic corrections and fixes such as wrongly assigned titles, incorrect descriptions, content containing HTML code, missing Unicode characters, etc.
• A side effect is that some lines contain additional white spaces, but this doesn’t affect the visual presentation – they are necessary for automated translation.
• The target texts for the Polish language were mapped using their English counterparts, ensuring 100% consistency ;)
• Adding other languages has now become super simple, at least when it comes to the texts
• The only problematic Datapoint is “Gaia Log: 3 Feb 2065 R” – it needs to be manually assembled from several individual sentences. I might create a separate file for it later

Additionally:

• I simplified the folder structure, unified file names, IDs, etc.
• I added basic configuration for VSCode Live Server Preview.
• I introduced basic editorconfig rules, trying to maintain the existing formatting.
• I changed the "Caps Lock" > "Alt" for view change because using the former alters the current local setup
• Last but not least – "The Social Network" ;)

Lastly, the Audio part will come later, I just didn't want to postpone the current changes.
