It looks like http://espn3.passportproject.org/ is down, which is where the
channel lists are stored I think. I wonder if there is a way that we could move
the XML file or whatever it was that was hosted on that site.

ESPN3 is not working either for me, both replays and live streams give me the
"Script failed in plugin.video.espn3" error

I am getting the same error. This plugin has been working very well for me
for several months now (after I replaced the updated default.py). Now, today, I
am getting Script failed in plugin.video.espn3.

Issue apparently solved for me: access the plugin settings, change a parameter
or two, then click "Defaults," then "OK." The plugin then works as it should.
Verified on two ATV's. (Perhaps this generates a needed settings file?)

I had the same problem after installing XBMC eden1 on a freshly jailbroken aTV
running ios 4.4.4. Accessing the plugin settings (System-> Add-ons -> Enabled
Add-ons -> Video Add-ons -> ESPN->Configure) and changing one parameter, then
clicking Defaults followed by OK as described in the previous post, did solve
it. Thanks to the previous poster for the tip!

#10 worked for me, but I can't get past the first menu except to watch live
cricket.

The solution from #10 worked nicely. It's weird bug.
