This is an issue with the "coordiantes" attribute being:
coordinates: time_run time s_rho lat_rho lon_rho instead of coordinates: time s_rho lat_rho lon_rho
This is done, fixed the RunTime axis replacing the Time axis in NetCDF writing.
EDC is not interpreting the time variable correctly (getting confsued with run_time and time) and always extracting all time variables.

EDC didn't complain, and showed me the proper extents, but then only showed me the 2D+time variables (no "temp", no "salt", etc). I tried selecting a days worth of data from a subsetted region of one of the 2D+time variables (free surface "zeta"), and the "feature" type was auto selected (no raster, which I guess makes sense), but I tried to load into Arc I didn't get anything back. No warning messages either.
