CLAP plugin failed to scan on REAPER with Apple Silicon CPU #384

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Download Dexed 0.9.7 Nightly.
  2. xattr -rd com.apple.quarantine Dexed_artefacts to make sure macOS doesn’t enforce binary signature.
  3. Copy Dexed_artefacts/Debug/CLAP/Dexed.clap to ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/CLAP/.
  4. Start REAPER.
  5. Choose Options → Settings → Plug-ins → LV2/CLAP → CLAP plug-in settings → Re-scan/Info.
  6. Choose “Clear cache and re-scan CLAP paths for all plug-ins”.

Thanks for the fix.

One good news & one bad news:

  1. The bug is fixed. REAPER can load Dexed as CLAP plugin now.

  2. The installation reports as “failure”. (It is actually successful.)

Is it possible to run the installer again to see if you have the issue ? If not, you should have a better explanation in /var/log/install.log and anything useful in that log file could give us some hints.

Looks like the installation script hardcoded the user name.

Great catch ! The original script goes like this:

mkdir $TMPDIR/AppResourcesPackageScript
cat > $TMPDIR/AppResourcesPackageScript/postinstall << PIEND
#!/bin/bash
rsync -r -p --delete "/tmp/dsgb-install/$APP" /Applications
chown -R $USER:staff "/Applications/$APP";
#rm -rf /tmp/dsgb-install
PIEND

The $USER gets evaluated on my machine and should be escaped so it should be "evaluated" on your machine. I will see what I can do and keep you posted.

I guess changing $USER to \$USER should fix it. (And perhaps also $APP to \$APP depending on where you want it to be evaluated.)
