What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Create a site that only serves over https://
2. Activate the site in google-sitemap-generator
3. Look at the host name
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I've noticed in webmaster tools, you can set the preferred protocol for the
site - for instance, an e-commerce site that forces all traffic through https.
This doesn't appear to be an actual bug, but an inconsistency in the interface
between WMT and GSG.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Installed package was: sitemap_linux-x86_64-beta1-20091231.tar.gz
CentOS
Please provide any additional information below.
I strongly suspect that WMT will correct the preferred protocol when indexing,
but this could cause confusion for some users. I'd recommend changing the
interface on GSG so that the user can select between http:// and https:// when
configuring a site. In the even that you have some areas serving over http://
and another portion serving over https://, being able to tag them as such in
GSG would make it easier for the user to keep track of which is which. Like I
said, probably not a bug in functionality, but as a user it was an option I was
surprised not to see. Please contact me if you need additional details.
