Passes tox but only with matplotlib hassles related to installed libraries.

Can run into a tensorflow python issue relating to state deletion at end: https://github.com/tensorflow/tensorflow/issues/3388

Thanks for the PR! I actually fixed some of the low-hanging problems yesterday so that at least diluvian train would run in 3.5, but it looks like you found more. Could you rebase on master?
