Turn on the option "Override HDCP status" in the inputstream addon. That works for me.

Thank you but that's already enabled..
Try
Min. Bandwidth (Bit/s) - 20000000 Max. Bandwidth (Bit/s) - 0 Max. Resolution general decoder - Max Max. Resolution secure decoder - Max Stream Selection - Auto Media - All Override HDCP(ON) Ignore Display Resolution (ON)
and delete
\userdata\addon_data\plugin.video.netflix\msl_data.json
and delete
\userdata\addon_data\plugin.video.netflix\msl_data.json
I think deleting that file did the trick! It's still not the same quality as the official Netflix app but it's definitely a huge improvement! So thanks for the help :)
Another issue I noticed is that Netflix widgets don't load up after a restart.. Is that a known bug perhaps?
Great it worked, thanks to "Ronny" from "kodinerds" for the steps, here are more instructions from him,
First look at this Side and Kodi Whitelist (german = Einstellungen/System/Anzeige/Allgemein - Erlaubte Auflösungen (3840x2160p 60Hz ...3840x2160p 50Hz...3840x2160p 24Hz ...3840x2160p 23.98Hz...1920x1080p 60Hz) and the other you want= all on
you must complete delete the Netflix Addon and (\userdata\addon_data\plugin.video.netflix), then new installation for the Netflix Addon 0.13.21 and new start Netflix Addon...then make the Netflix ESN Number from the Nvidia Shield TV Info into the (\userdata\addon_data\plugin.video.netflix\settings.xml) File...after delete the (\userdata\addon_data\plugin.video.netflix\msl_data.json) and new start Netflix Addon again.
So I removed the Netflix addon and deleted the addon-data. Started over from scratch but still only giving me 480p for the most part.. Even Netflix Originals which should really be 1080p I think.. I've already tried everything I could think of so I guess I'm just out of luck on this one..
Did you get Friends to play in 1080p? Can you play Bright in 1080p?
Try to uninstall 0.13.21 using the steps from here

and install this version

I like the new version better so I'll keep that one. Friends is still 480p, Bright however was 1080p so it is possible then! I tried some other stuff, Maniac was 720p but Daredevil was 480p.. Brain on Fire was 720p while Annihilation also was 480p.. So I don't really know what's going on..
Play Daredevil and press on "O" and send to me the photo, Annihilation being in 480p is a normal thing, not all the movies will play in 1080p, most of the TV shows should play in 1080p. What is your internet speed?
In this folder file with the name "manifest.json", upload it after playing Daredevil.
C:\Users\Essam\AppData\Roaming\Kodi\userdata\addon_data\plugin.video.netflix
Try the movie spectral if it will play in 1080p or not.

I hope I did it right..
Try to disable the hardware decoding in Kodi, press on the "Settings" icon in the upper right, then press on "Player", press on "Standard" in the lower left until you get "Expert", then stand on "Videos", in "Render method" choose "Software", and disable "Allow hardware acceleration - DXVA2".
If still not working, try this release.

I can't select render method.. Mine says auto detect and I can't change that.. Is that normal??
Disable "Allow hardware acceleration - DXVA2", and try this release, just update the Netflix plugin.

Still no luck.. Maybe I should mention that I have no problems playing 1080p and 4K files through other addons in Kodi such as Yoda and Gaia.. So for now I guess I'll just use Kodi for the 'banned' addons and use the official Netflix app for Netflix.. Hopefully it will sort itself out in the future.. But really appreciate the help!! I'll update this post if it somehow changes..
I can succesful run full hd. Just gonto InputStream Adaptive add-on settings, turn on Override HDCP ststus. Then you get all movie full HD. You can see video info during playback, netflix add on is using h.264. This old video codec, and the quality is not same as netflix app.
To fix this, just go to netflix add on settings, turn on Enable VP9 profiles. This is new video codec that will improved video quality and use less 40% data bandwith. You also cab turn on HEVC profiles for 4k video. HEVC is latest codec, superior quality than VP9.
No need to delete anything, just stop video and play again. Now you get netflix add on same video quality as netflix app.
There was a bug in inputstream.adaptive where if you selected 720p, you would get a lower quality stream. And if you selected 1080p you would get the 720p stream. It is fixed in peak3d/inputstream.adaptive#259
The Nvidia Shield has full Netflix support but somehow I get horrible quality through this plugin in Kodi.. I asked on the Kodi forum and searched here and online for answers, but sadly no help.. I've entered the full ESN number in the addon settings, enabled HEVC, set InputStream Adaptive to manual to choose the quality while playing and set minimum bandwith to 500000000.. It's only giving me 480p options.. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? I'm running version 0.13.21 on Kodi 18 RC5..
