I've switched over to Atom and installed the Atom AsciiDoc plug-in. Hopefully some of the syntax issues are corrected now. I noted that using the + to fence didn't work, but indenting two spaces for things like command line did cause a rendering change (bug raised). I've taken this approach with my latest round of edits.
@jaredmorgs I think this is a great start. You good to merge?
FYI, I would like to take this as a starting point and add my own spin in a follow on PR.

I broke down the procedures from the perspective of a new user, and added some contextual info that might help folks who are new to Jekyll and AsciiDoc.
It's a big change, and I would anticipate a Subject Matter Expert review to make sure I haven't changed anything important.
I'm not that used to doing pull requests from my tablet using Pocket Git, so please forgive me if it's not up to the usual standards.
