Thank you for the kind words. It's sad but the process to satisfy Google requirements is just too much for me as an individual developer.
As an alternative method, I just keep the Mail.app open 24X7. I do not worry about the ZERO or other unread numbers anymore. Don't have many messages anyway.
Thank you!
It's very sad that you needed to go that route :( It was truly an awesome tool and I recommended it to everybody.
I am testing Mail+ but it's not exactly what I needed. Despite being too much (I don't need the desktop email app) it lacks on the basics of showing a simple notification for multiple accounts :(
If anyone comes trough an alternative let us know!
I miss the app so much... I've been using it for years, a part of my daily workflow has been taken away from me now that the app does not work anymore. Many thanks to @ashchan for this amazing app, would there be a way we could help you get through the Google requirements? Maybe if we join forces between a few fans, we could help you out? ;-)
Talking about alternatives: I've been testing Mail+ and Mia for Gmail. Mia is closest to Mail Notfr. However, all these apps require that you have to give full access to your gmail account (read/write permissions). I believe these permissions are way wider than the ones Mail Notfr needed (is that correct @ashchan?), so I'm not sure yet that I feel comfortable giving these permissions...
Eventually Google will almost certainly require any app accessing GmailAPIs to have the paid security assessment, which will likely have the effect of disallowing apps from small developers who can't afford the fees.
@stysedo Google actually told me individual open source can have zero fee solutions but the toolkits they suggest donโt support Swift project at all.
Thanks @ashchan for creating this great tool so many years ago! ๐
I really like how simple & unobtrusive it was.
Sadly, I'm now getting the auth errors, so I need to find a replacement.
Is anyone aware of anything comparable to Mail Notifr?
The closest I found is Mail+ from Rocky Sand Studios, but it seems to be a lot heavier than Mail Notifr with a bunch of extra features I don't want.
