"Burp's Spider and Vuln analysis engine support up to 50 threads. AFAIK, Zap 
only 10, which means Burp is a lot faster on certains tests.

Any reason why Zap has that limitation?"

Historical, and the fact that no-ones complained before. We've had more 
complaints about ZAP effectively DOSing apps! But its a very easy fix, so 
expect that in the next release :)
