MacVim doesn't open any window (except through mvim) #501

What steps will reproduce the problem?

Start MacVim through the .app bundle (not the mvim command) and File > New 
window

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

It is supposed to open a new windows/create an empty file but it does nothing
No error and no nothing printed to the console

What version of MacVim and OS X are you using (see "MacVim->About MacVim"
and  "Apple Menu->About This Mac" menu items, e.g. "Snapshot 40, 10.5.6
Intel")?

MacVim Snapshot 70 (most recent at the time of writing)
OS X 10.9.2

Please provide any additional information below.

It DOES work when opening MacVim through the mvim file.
