Unfortunately I'm getting the bug mentioned here: https://github.com/Airblader/i3/issues/43 when compiling the source of https://github.com/i3/i3 with or without applied window-icons.patch .

maybe someone can check if it works (I guess the fc21 standard dependency packages are not suitable)

window-icons-airblader.patch could be tested successfully when applied to the current https://github.com/Airblader/i3 . Hope this might help some other people too :)

The icon patch has been rebased on 4.11 by @wawe so I am closing this.
