Remote Display API results in blank screen for all sample apps #644

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Download and remote display sample app (such as:
https://github.com/googlecast/CastRemoteDisplay-android )
2. Build in Android Studio (latest version)
3. Test on 5.1.1 device running CyanogenMod (I have the problem on 2 devices:
oneplus one and galaxy S3)

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Should see something on TV, instead I get black screen (and no sound).

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
5.1.1 device running CyanogenMod (I have the problem on 2 devices: oneplus one
and galaxy S3) + Chromecast

Please provide any additional information below.
In android studio, I get this message in logcat:
Presentation is being immediately dismissed because the display metrics have
changed since it was created.

Same message in all Remote Display sample apps I've tested.

Are you able to mirror your screen using the devices that are seeing this
remote display issue?

Yes, screen mirroring works, all chromecast apps work (castpad, youtube,
doodlecast). Will provide any log/info you need to fix issue.

Are you using the latest version of Google Play Services?
Have you seen the issue on any devices that aren't running CyanogenMod?

Issue on both 7.8.99 (2134222-438) and 8.1.05 (2218116-238)

Will try putting a non-CM rom on one phone tonight, but stock OnePlusOne needs
to work.

I also notice that in all remote display sample apps, when I go to stop
casting, the casting volume control is too small. Bug or something that can be
adjusted in code?

Flashed oxygen OS instead of the default CM on Oneplusone and it works. I still
feel it is a critical issue if it doesn't work on CM though.

I believe it's more appropriate to discuss that with the CM developers.
