no manual settings possible for Chromecast audio output => incompatibiltiy with older TV sets #657

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Try to cast MKV video + 5.1 audio to older 5.1 capable TV, in this case
Philips 46PFL9704H/12
2. 5.1 LC-AAC is used as audio stream
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected output: 5.1 audio, received output: 2.0 stereo

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1st generation Chromecast, iPad + DS Video or Xperia Z1 + Google Play

Please provide any additional information below.
Trying to stream MKV + 5.1 LC-AAC to my Philips TV, I receive only 2.0 audio.
When attached to a newer Panasonic TV, the same configuration gives 5.1 output.
I can also reach 5.1 output when I connect my PC directly via HDMI to Philips
TV as I can enable 5.1 (DD) in the Windows driver for the HDMI connection. So I
figure that it must be a problem with Chromecast not recognizing the output
HDMI sink as being capable of 5.1 throughput.
Now, what I'd like Chromecast to have is a settings page where one could
manually try some output settings for his own TV set, especially for older
generation TVs like mine. (disable the internal resampler, set 5.1
compatibility manually etc)

This is a known limitation with some TV models. You may be able to find more
help at the Chromecast online forum:
https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!forum/chromecast.
