Segments in a playlist don't always start at the beginning #155

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Play a playlist with segments from a radio show
2. If a segment is 3:00 long and finishes, if it is shorter than the next
segment (3:45 long), the next segment starts (sometimes) at the timecode
(starts at 3:00) where the previous one finished.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
I'm using version 2.3 (7230) on a Galaxy Nexus (Verizon with ICS 4.0.4)

I noticed this behavior as well in 2.3.
I can confirm that it happens 100% of the time with 2.4 as long as the next
item in the playlist is longer in duration than the current item.
[Galaxy Nexus GSM 4.1.2]

I've been having this problem for a long time now as well. It doesn't just
happen with if the next item is longer, if the next item is shorter it will
just skip it, but you don't notice unless you are looking at the playlist.
I've been able to get through 3 to 5 stories on a playlist before it starts
happening, and then it pretty much happens at the end of every story after that.

This is on the old (2.3) and new (2.4).

I experience this too, consistently, Galaxy Nexus. Jellybean. If I can help
debug, let me know, since I can duplicate the issue consistently.

Pretty sure we know what this is. Haven't had time to fix it yet, but are
hoping to soon.

Understand time constraints, but seems like this should be high priority as it
spans several versions now, and used to work.

I'm still seeing this issue with the 2.5 beta.

Also still having this problem. I used to be able to manually select the next
item before the previous one ended and that would always load from the
beginning, but now selecting the next item will often start the stream most of
the way through.

Not sure if this is related but the small gray text above the article title
constantly switches between "NOW PLAYING" and "BUFFERING..." even when the
stream is fully loaded.

This issue continues on Nexus 4/Android 4.3 and NExus 5/Android 4.4

As per #181, I experience this issue on the Nexus 5 on Wifi. When I fiddle with
the application whilst I listen sometimes it doesn't cut the stories, or hourly
news, short. I confirm that it is frustrating. Using current production version.
