Be able to reply to SMS / start phone calls / etc. from the computer #55

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?

1. Installed
2. I get notifications
3. I can not respond to any texts? I can only see when I get them in Growl.
That is all!

Can anyone help me with this?

Being able to respond is still being implemented - the current release doesn't
have that feature yet.
I don't have an issue open for that yet even though it's already halfway done,
so I'm using this one.

I see. Gizmodo is very sneaky having it show a box where you can reply.
Thank you for this.
Thanks for the program!

the dial pad but i don't know if its possible to start a call.

Is this due to be done at all?

As I mentioned, it's half done. I haven't finished yet 'cause I was fixing
other bugs and am giving some attention to the multiplatform client that many
people are using.

Being able to reply to SMS right from the computer would make this the most
handy application ever! Thank you for working on implementing this.
I just hope it'll show up on the phone just like you had sent it from there in
the first place.

Getting back to this now. I'll strive to send it out in the next release.

I had some difficulties implementing the "hang up" action, but I think I
figured out the (hacky) way to do it.
For my own reference:
I can obtain ITelephony:
http://android.git.kernel.org/?p=platform/frameworks/base.git;a=blob;f=telephony
/java/com/android/internal/telephony/ITelephony.aidl;h=2328717c19cbe3d856a6380da
662d3fa9b8782d7;hb=HEAD
as done in
http://android.git.kernel.org/?p=platform/frameworks/base.git;a=blob;f=telephony
/java/android/telephony/TelephonyManager.java;h=ab63017b0df1b9828d3d04ee73d2ca37
7287dfc6;hb=HEAD
then use reflection to call endCall on it.

Alternatively, I can do as the phone app does here:
http://android.git.kernel.org/?p=platform/packages/apps/Phone.git;a=blob;f=src/c
om/android/phone/PhoneUtils.java;h=aab89fffb6a4f09f41bca80193d19a14c102e9b9;hb=H
EAD
by using the "Call" and "Phone" classes defined in
http://android.git.kernel.org/?p=platform/frameworks/base.git;a=tree;f=telephony
/java/com/android/internal/telephony;h=b0b0225b5e3d11068cbe371f36b5c55e7a19d559;
hb=HEAD
although that needs checking to decide which type of call to hang up
(ringing/active/on hold).

Other than that, most things are working already (using protocol buffers, I
deprecated my original protocol plan), I still need to implement discovery
(finding out the Bluetooth MAC address or IP address to send the commands to -
I'm currently hardcoding that to my device).

I'm so excited for this feature! Once this and USB notifications are fully
implemented, I will be using this app daily!

A Popup Window with instant SMS answering function, showing the newly arrived
SMS + including SMS history of last 4 SMS (aka 'sms chat') would make this an
über-APP.

Btw. I was fascinated on how easily and smooth my phone was found in the WIFI
Network, this software is some good piece of work.

I really liked your app/program, everything worked out of the box as described.
but the only reason i did not continue to use it is because the lack of being
able to SEND SMS. I am currently using Texdro, it has far less features but can
send sms and sync contacts with pc.

I am waiting for this feature so i can switch back, as the program i am
currently using doesnt have the finnished look and feel of yours.

Just started using this on HTC Sensation.
Replying from my Mac would make this one of the most useful apps available!
Please update on the status of this feature as your last reply was 7 months
back.
Thanks!

Take a look at the project updates, this project is pretty much abandoned by
the developers. If you need a new feature, fork or use something else.
