delete generated files
add buildToolsVersion '28.0.3'
target pie
change applicationId in xdaedition to applicationIdSuffix
remove redundant things in buildTypes
add java 1.8 compatibility
bump gradle 4.6 -> 4.10.3
bump espresso core 2.2.2 -> 3.0.2
bump gson 2.8.0 -> 2.8.5
bump powermock libraries 1.6.5 -> 1.7.4
bump triplet play publisher 1.2.0 -> 1.2.2 (2.0.0 is available)
bump hockeyapp sdk 5.1.0 -> 5.1.1
bump junit 4.12 -> 4.13-beta-1
simple variable usage in .sh files

you should really take some time to update the jackson libraries to 2.x
