OpenAI ChatGPT 4o - Impossible to reinstall plugin #39

Open julien6 opened 3 months ago

julien6 commented 3 months ago

Dear Developers,

I am using ChatGPT 4o (with the online service provided by OpenAI with a ChatGPT Plus account) and need to reinstall the plugin because my credentials have changed. As a result, AskTheCode is not able to retrieve GitHub data after entering a GitHub repository URL (see the error message below). However, it is currently not possible because the Plugins Store (Beta features) is no longer available (in GUI). What should I do?

Error Message: "I was unable to retrieve the repository structure. This typically occurs because the repository does not exist or you do not have access to it.

To query private repositories, you need to sign in to the plugin using your GitHub account. To do this, please reinstall the plugin.

For more information, you can check out the documentation..."

Kind regards

Hello @julien6

Thank you for using AskTheCode!

Plugins have indeed been deprecated by OpenAI. Instead of plugins, OpenAI introduced the custom GPTs feature.

The AskTheCode plugin has evolved into the AskTheCode - Git Companion custom GPT, which can be found here: https://chatgpt.com/g/g-3s6SJ5V7S-askthecode-git-companion

Please use your up-to-date GitHub credentials to authenticate into this GPT, and you will be able to use AskTheCode functionality backed up with the GPT-4 model.

AskTheCode has evolved since the plugin times and now has a bunch of new cool features. You can find the documentation for all of them here: https://docs.askthecode.ai/

Please let me know if this solves your issue or if you have any other questions or need further assistance.

I get the same error, it seems impossible to re-authenticate your github after initial installation now under this new CustomGPT option, and I can't find any mention in the docs. The GPT even concurs with this point: "Currently, there is no way to re-install CustomGPT to refresh GitHub credentials. In this case, we can try addressing the error directly with the code snippets you provided."

Hi @HartharnSam,

Thanks for reporting the issue. Could you please try to log out and the log in once again with your GitHub account? This log out/log in process is described here: https://docs.askthecode.ai/authentication/#subscription-quota-not-applied

Please ping me if this helps or if the issue still persists.

Hi, thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, the issue is persisting, as there are no such buttons to log out of your account in the new versions of custom GPTs.

@HartharnSam could you please share how the UI looks for you?

I've checked even the mobile app version, to sign out from the account there the path is: three dots at the top-right corner -> View Details -> Connected Accounts and there you'll have the Log out button

@HartharnSam could you please upload screenshots in the GitHub issue? It seems that they are not able to parse them from the email message
