Will the EFI work for OpenCore 6.9.0 and Mac OS 11.3.1? #4

Hi

I have been using BigSur Beta version 11.1 i believe with a EFI folder from insanelyMac, I would like to know if your EFI folder will work with the latest version of OpenCore and BigSur version 11.3.1

I have the same HP ProDesk 800 G1 mini.

I think you would need to update the kexts and I would suggest upgrading to OpenCore 0.6.8 or 0.6.9. I don't have the machine right now since I have other tiny-PC Hackintosh projects all the time. If you wait some days I can update the EFI folder to work with BigSur 11.3.1. You would have to change SMBIOS to iMac14,4 to install BigSur. I am running Big Sur fine on a Lenovo m93p running the same CPU.

Hi, Thanks for the reply sorry was busy with getting things working on the latest opencore so couldn't reply, I was able to get it working without any problems. I just used all the guides available out on the internet the steps were simple, update opencore files, use the sample.plist file and copy over the changes from your existing config.plist. run the update.

I had set my SMBIOS to iMac15,1 even in Catalina so no issues there. and I am using an Apple original Wifi + Bluetooth card so that is plug and play as well with the A/E Key adapter. The only issues that I have are the following:

  1. Internal Mic not working
  2. 4K Resolution not working on any of display port.

Is there any solution to the above? for the mic I guess its simple just purchase an external USB mic but getting 4K running would be great. Also if you need the EFI folder let me know.

I had some problems with SMBIOS 15.1 so I moved back to 14,4. How did you fit the original Apple wifi/BT card in the 800 G1 Mini? I am using Intel wifi/bt cards with success now. One thing I noticed was that all the audio ports were gone with Big Sur so i downgraded to macOS Mojave. At least audio ports and mic are back. I don't have a 4k monitor to check at the moment.

I purchased the above A/E Adapter along with the Macbook Pro WiFi / Bluetooth driver. I secured the Apple card to the A/E Adapter with double-sided tape, as the screws didn't line up. then placed the A/E Adapter on the M.2 port under the 2.5inch Hard drive tray added some double-sided tape under the tray to secure it cause again screws didn't line up. but everything worked just fine after I secured the tray to the board with screws. I don't have the pic of it installed I will take when I am at my house (which I am not currently)

How did you connect the wires since the MacBook Pro card has 3 connectors? I use the MacBook Air card for other Hackintoshes. It has 2 connectors, one for wifi and one for BT.

Well my HP 800 G1 didn't come with its own WiFi card or antenna's so I bought universal ones from ebay and attached 3 of them to each of the 3 connectors on the Apple card. image

I can confirm that not only WiFi works but Bluetooth works as well.

I see. I never thought of that since my tiny PCs all came with wifi/bt cards. Did you install the external antenna or do you only have the cables in the picture? I sometimes have problems with the metal chassis blocking the signal if I have internal antennas. Btw. the Lenovo m93p has a mini-PCI card that I replace and can run with Apple native drivers. With the new itlwm.kext I get really good speeds but still not as good as a native MBP wifi card like the one you have. Hopefully the ITLWM project will support AirDrop which doesn't work now.

they are integrated together, black rectangle you see is the antenna part and the cable end goes to the wifi / bt card. I did have placement issues the range is not that good with the chassis closed, but I'd say about 10 feet it connects fine for Bluetooth, but WiFi Range is good enough, but that may be because I have access points in all rooms so its always 100% everywhere.

100% Compatibility and speed was the main reason I went with Apple card instead of Broadcom or others that work, AirDrop etc. all work like a treat without messing with anything in the OS or Kext files.

If the wifi or Bluetooth range is ever an issue with those universal antenna's you can use double-sided tape and stick them at the bottom of the case on the outside, taking the wire out of the holes in the back, this way you'll never see them plus get very good signal.

I would try to get a used antenna to fit back. Normally that is good when you mount the other antennas towards the front. The signal is good in the front where the front is plastic.
