Performance issue when using kwin compositor when playing videos #5

kwin_x11 is using a lot of CPU probably generating previews but I did see a difference in usage with and without the script. I was using mpv to play the video.

Thanks for reporting it! Can you tell me more about the high CPU usage conditions? In particular, was this when the overview was up, or when you were focused on a program?

There have been some issues with CPU usage (particularly with videos playing) when the overview isn't up, for which I tried a few workarounds that were effective in my case. The workarounds might be failing, however.

Usage was high even though the overview was not up and mpv was fullscreen so that shouldn't cause issues.

I'll try to sort this out soon, but first, are you using the most up to date version? The activity dock should automatically hide itself if the mouse isn't at the bottom of the screen, if you are. If the dock is always present, that's a version before I tried to mitigate the CPU usage issue.

Sorry I should've updated before opening an issue. kwin_x11 is not consuming as much CPU now when the dock is not active. If you think that there is no more to investigate you can close the issue, thanks :)
