The article Deriving reliable fundamental parameters of pre-main-sequence-rich star clusters affected by differential reddening, Bonatto et al. (2012; Zotero) describes a simple method for parameter estimation that relies on comparing the Hess diagrams of observed vs synthetic diagrams.

Could be added as an option.

This is just a chi-squared test. Tested, does not give particularly good results
