use hostent's h_length value so that we get 4 for IPv4 in place of sizeof(unsigned long) which is often 8 on current systems
put display address in network order before sending

To avoid any assumptions: While the XDMCP spec does specify that integer values are in big endian order, it doesn't say anything about address formats or lengths.
