Gists instead of nblinks to remove pandoc dependency #205

Pandoc dependency is the only reason we require users to use conda for source cloning - this will be good to get rid of for flexibility, look into this again due to pandoc updates. This doesn't affect pip installs at all so not too high priority but good to get done
