This would require a lot more work into recruitment/retention research, but worth looking at: Broadening Participation in Engineering (BPE) https://www.nsf.gov/funding/pgm_summ.jsp?pims_id=505632&org=NSF&sel_org=NSF&from=fund

PFE: Research Initiation in Engineering Formation (PFE: RIEF) https://www.nsf.gov/pubs/2020/nsf20558/nsf20558.htm?WT.mc_id=USNSF_25&WT.mc_ev=click

This one is actually very interesting: "The Professional Formation of Engineers: Research Initiation in Engineering Formation (PFE: RIEF) program enables engineering faculty who are renowned for teaching, mentoring, or leading educational reform efforts on their campus to develop expertise in conducting engineering education research."

Anticipated budget 3M, ~15 awards. So ~200k/award.

I think ASU and WSU have money for now. Closing
