@davidwhogg Could you refine this suggestion? I think the concept of decision-making probably should be better defined, either narrowed or split into different types of decision-making. The two papers you cite seem to be examples of different types for decision making, but perhaps you are seeing connections I am not. A search of ADS (now NASA SciX) comes up with more than 2k refereed astronomical papers that mention decision-making, but again these seem to embrace a range of processes. Conceivably, some type of decision-making could be a child of calibration, astrostatistics, ethnoastronomy, and several other places.
Name the new concept Decision-making
Describe the concept Using data to make decisions, such as target selections.
Describe where the concept fits within the existing hierarchy Probably somewhere in the statistics hierarchy.
