In Issue #5, @katieefrey mentioned that "Gamma ray observatories might be on the ground."
Current, ground-based gamma-ray observatories include HAWC: High Altitude Water Cherenkov Experiment MAGIC Florian Goebel Telescopes: Major Atmospheric Gamma Imaging Cherenkov Telescopes HESS: High Energy Stereoscopic System VERITAS: Very Energetic Radiation Imaging Telescope Array System
Since there are ground-based gamma ray observatories (GROs), then not all GROs are space observatories. Therefore I would remove GRO as a child of space observatories.
Name the concept in question Gamma-ray observatories http://astrothesaurus.org/uat/632
Describe the change Observational astronomy,Instrumentation,Observatories,Gamma-ray observatories,,,,,, Observational astronomy,Instrumentation,Observatories,Space observatories,Gamma-ray observatories,,,,,
In issue https://github.com/astrothesaurus/UAT/issues/5 @seweissman suggested eliminating multiple instances of "concepts that are both siblings and ancestors." @katieefrey pointed out that "Part of the point of the UAT is for concepts to exist in a poly hierarchy, for them to be found through multiple paths."
Please include any additional comments/feedback I am opening this issue for further discussion of the placement of Gamma-ray observatories.
