Welcome to AsyncAPI. Thanks a lot for reporting your first issue. Please check out our contributors guide and the instructions about a basic recommended setup useful for opening a pull request.
Keep in mind there are also other channels you can use to interact with AsyncAPI community. For more details check out this issue.
@Barbanio makes sense! just do not know what you mean by Access to the blog
Sorry, I mean that you can access directly from that tab to the blog, with a link or section that takes you to the blog when you click on it. Do you understand me now?
so blog
in the top navigation is not enough you mean?
Yes, this would simply be a button that takes journalists directly to the blog. The idea is to make it easier to access the information most relevant to them in one tab.
Makes sense ππΌ
@Barbanio what is press kit?
I saw that on few press pages people put project icons so they are easier to access, like all bringing related
@derberg Yes, it's very common for any company, enterprise, or project to have a press kit, it is very important in terms of public relations and communication. It's a document that gathers all the relevant information of the project (mission, objectives, values, etc.), it could be said that it is the letter of introduction.
Γlex and I worked on this: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1U3k_YnMIdJUaTmw16X6CZR5KPMgl0_Ml/edit#heading=h.9k4byahtrni1
@Barbanio you do not have to convince me, I like the idea. I just asked about The press kit
that you have on the list, what exactly is it? the document you linked or? Sorry for not expressing myself clearly in initial comment
@derberg Yes, it's that document.
Hey , Can i still take up this issue ? If yes then let me know the task and task files .
@Barbanio hey, @hkaur008 wants to help out creating the press
tab. Can you provide her with all the data and files needed for it? I mean what exactly needs to be provided on the website? Without this it will be hard to even provide a mockup
Aside from the list of the things provided in the issue description, I think we should also expose on the press table the brand files, logos I mean, the ones that we have here https://drive.google.com/drive/u/1/folders/17XAR-6D8Le7iQT3Y6laKNBsaGj_8DStF ?
Also, the issue is called press tab
but it also might be just a press
drop down in navigation with just a bunch of links maybe, to all these different resources, or dedicated views. Just a hint to explore different options, and review how others do it
Hi! sure, @hkaur008 your willingness is great!
I think the most important are the newsgathering points, press releases, and the press kit because the rest would be links.
@derberg I think it is a very good idea to put the brand files as well.
We can see how this information is presented in other projects.
Sorry, I just had my last exam today! Okay, As far as I understand it would be just a section to give insights about many things Asyncapi is up to .
Please let me now where I have to code for same , any file reference or folder or frontend design which is needed to be built π
Hi, I hope your exams went well :) Yes, the initial idea is to put all the information inside a press section, something like Postman or Nordic APIs for example: https://www.postman.com/company/press-media/ https://nordicapis.com/about/press/ Press kit document I think we could put it in .pdf format, what do you think?
https://www.postman.com/company/press-media/ they are having a different section for press media . I was unable to find link to press media on their site , was that in footer ? i will work accordingly
Yes, it's in the footer, in "company", the last column on the right π
So , what exactly i have to do ? Can you please list works and where I have to code . π
That would be it from me. This would be the first part, a footer with links to external resources.
Now the second part is the list of articles about AsyncAPI in media. @Barbanio I guess you are referring to articles from InfoQ, Linux Foundation. Please first suggest a list of articles and what would be the URL pointing to the view with list, asyncapi.com/?
asyncapi.com/mentions
?
@hkaur008 I guess you are partially unblocked now?
Yes, I'm referring to those types of articles. These are the most relevant ones I have found, I'm sure I'm forgetting some of them. The same news is covered by different media and different news is covered by the same media like Info Q. In principle, I think we can put them all acquiring the added value of those media that talk about AsyncAPI. What do you think? On the other hand, I think they would fit better in asyncapi.com/mentions.
Articles:
I think we should put emphasis on news diversity and avoid duplication. In other words, media news about "AsyncAPI joining Linux Foundation" should show up just once and from different source than InfoQ cause we have other articles from them.
Does it make sense?
I see you have one article in German, so we definitely need to clearly separate in the UI, news in English from news in different lanugages.
Yes, it makes sense, the same goes for the Postman and AsyncAPI news. I have selected the media by the quality of the news and by the number of visits per month and the list would look like this:
Do you think it is relevant that the German media appears in this case, or that in the future other media that do not work in English will appear?
I think it is fine to list mentions in other languages, why not, just pick some written in Spanish, at least one.
I imagine the list of articles shows up like this but of course, instead of people image, there would be an article cover photo. Such a grid view could be separated by some label, English-written articles at the top, and then below other languages
current footer on site: what else links i need to add ? Got code for new footer Option 1 Similar to current in theming Option 2 darker Better one acc to ur suggestions ?
@hkaur008 Hi! We should choose the first option (white), similar to current design :)
what else links i need to add ?
As @derberg wrote, you should add links from this https://github.com/asyncapi/website/issues/195#issuecomment-847689807 comment
I only don't know which links and in which way we should show them, I mean to which groups we should split the links. In the future we should have groups: Tooling
, Support
, Company
and there I have a problem for Press
link/group, because usually Press is an another link in the Company
group but Εukasz wants in the https://github.com/asyncapi/website/issues/195#issuecomment-847689807 comment that Press
should be as a separate group, next to the Company
. For me we can go with it, but let's see what other people think, @fmvilas @jonaslagoni @smoya @Barbanio
Related to articles: I think that we should have an 4th link named Articles
with link asyncapi.com/press-and-media
and this page should be similar to our /blog
page, however, we should create this as the next PR, because there will be a lot to do.
I also add link to original design of footer, for other people from community https://tailwindui.com/components/marketing/sections/footers
Hi guys! I hope everything is going well. I know that you miss me (im adorable) , but please let me out of this e-mails. Thanks! Alejandro
I think it is ok if we go as simple as possible here, so just have two sections in white footer,
Press
with link mentioned in previous commentsOthers
with links that are currently in the footer, except for the pressin follow up PRs we can extend Others
into separate sections, in a separate discussion about it.
HI! I don't know if this is the ideal place to leave this information... I have created a repository with the press kit in markdown in case one day it is uploaded to the web or someone needs it in .md
I edit the link to the PR: https://github.com/Barbanio/Press-Kit/pull/1
@Barbanio I see there are style issues with the headings on the press kit. For instance here but it's repeating the same thing in every heading. I think we should not be copying the styles from the original document and instead put the headings in a single line. Does it make sense?
@fmvilas Sure, it makes sense, it looks better now.
I have a few more comments to make. Would you mind creating a PR? It's hard to give feedback this way π
Sorry, I think it's better now. https://github.com/Barbanio/Press-Kit/pull/1
No need to apologize π Thanks for taking the time!

Hello Everyone π. Heyyy @derberg, as discussed in Slack, I would like to work on this issue and really excited. So to start with that, as referred earlier can we have postman website design or can we make any changes Like this, Can we go with just two groups:- one for press and articles, another for other links, As you mentioned @derberg in https://github.com/asyncapi/website/issues/195#issuecomment-861464556. Just to get my understanding better, I will do some rough work with draft layout and let u all know by tomorrow evening . It would be really helpful if I get all your inputs and references π
@Harish-b-13 thanks!
can we have postman website design
we definitely cannot follow Postman 1:1 as we should follow https://github.com/asyncapi/brand/blob/master/brand-guidelines/README.md that @mcturco published just yesterday. But yeah, the idea is pretty common everywhere, so columns with links. What I like in the Postman footer is the Social
section. We should definitely get it too, instead of the current list of icons only
Can we go with just two groups:- one for press and articles, another for other links
Press
should just be a link to separate view, where articles and other stuff is, that @Barbanio provided in other commentBrand
link that should link to https://github.com/asyncapi/brand/blob/master/brand-guidelines/README.md (and long term I guess also separate view on the website)Social
groupI'm not sure how to name group that will have Press and Brand links π€
But yeah, basically new footer overrides ππΌ
About
is so much outdated that it feels wrong to have it there :( Shop
can move also to footer, next to Press and BrandI wonder what others think
Heyy Everyoneπ. So to get an idea, made some changes in the footer and played with it
I would like to get everyone's suggestions, ideas and improvements required.
Explanation:
./components/img
folder with the name AsyncAPILogoLight
and used in the footer. Please give me your suggestions regarding this as I dont know if this is right way to do this as I am a newbieπAnd @derberg can I start to work on the new page to render the press release documents and articles that @Barbanio mentioned or what is your plan to implement this? π π.
I would like to appreciate @mcturco for the work π. @mcturco, I want to bring one issue to your concern that in the logos directory, the primary logos of AsyncAPI PNG format has two variants right... so there the light version was named as dark and the other way for the dark version. Kindly please have a look at it.
@derberg I would like to get your suggestions, ideas and improvements that are required.
Thank youπ
Hey @Harish-b-13! Thank you so much for putting this together. I am loving the layout that you proposed! I just have a few UI suggestions. Here is a quick mock-up that I put together to help visualize what I am proposing we change:
dark
color that is in the brand guidelines. I am not sure if this color exists yet in the website tailwind config, but if it doesn't we should definitely add it!#9C96A8
and probably also needs to get added into the tailwind config. I need to create a cool gray shades color palette, but for now I think we can just call this cool-gray
Company
to The Initiative
but I am wondering if anyone else has other ideas π€ The reason why I don't like Company
is because we aren't really a company, as we don't make profit. But curious about what others think.Brand
under The Initiative
as I don't think it makes sense to be grouped with Press linksI am still pretty confused about the Press links that we need to have in the footer, forgive me if I missed it earlier in this issue but I know the current Press link is just a mailto: link, which I don't think the link text communicates that properly. I think we still need to have a further discussion on how we are going to organize these links, but just wanted to propose my UI idea.
I would like to appreciate @mcturco for the work π. @mcturco, I want to bring one issue to your concern that in the logos directory, the primary logos of AsyncAPI PNG format has two variants right... so there the light version was named as dark and the other way for the dark version. Kindly please have a look at it.
Thank you for pointing that out! π I must have confused myself thinking that the light one would be for dark mode and vice versa. Great catch! Going to submit an issue in brand to resolve that π
Heyy @mcturco. Thank you for suggestions.
I changed the column named Company to
The Initiative
That's a very good change, I didnt think of this and lets see what others are thinking. Curiously waiting for @derberg 's input π
All the other changes you made, are valid one and I will change according to this. Lets wait for @derberg. And once again Thank you very much for your time and valuable suggestionπ.
this looks amazing, thanks @Harish-b-13 for coming up with proposal so fast and @mcturco for great mockups right away β€οΈ
my only point is that yes, we should have Slack link in Social
, and we should also put Twitch there -> https://www.twitch.tv/asyncapi
Hello Everyone π. Soo, I have made all the changes.
Now, I need your help @derberg , I dont know which link, I have to use for Slack in Social
. It would be helpful if u provide me the link that should be included. And is there any changes that I have to make in this layout.
And @derberg can I start to work on the new page to render the press release documents and articles that Barbanio mentioned or what is your plan to implement this? π π
Eagerly waiting for your inputs @derberg and @mcturco .
Thank you
@Harish-b-13 Hi! I don't know what @derberg wants to do with press
page, but it would be best if you opened a PR with a new footer and we would do a review :)
for slack please use -> https://asyncapi.com/slack-invite
for press, yes, we need new simple page with content mentioned by @Barbanio as simple as https://www.asyncapi.com/about
Helloo @magicmatatjahu π. Thank you very much for your response. Please give me some time to create the page to display the contents. For sure, will submit a PR by tomorrow.π
Heyy @derberg π. Thank you very much. Will complete the work by tomorrow and will submit a PR.π
Thank youπ
Hello, @alejandrolmiguel and I thought it would be a good idea to have a press tab on the website to facilitate contact with the press. The information we would like to have in the press tab would be:
What do you think? Thanks in advance :)
