The code for setting the time stored by TimeLib.h after getting the time using NTP was disabled because it threw compiler errors that I didn't want to fix as part of moving to ESP-IDF (2e6735d467353c95f9583102ee713171329cfae2, #17). The code still exists but is commented out.
