Blockedit is astonishingly slow for anything above about 20 lines for me. I wait upwards of thirty seconds for a single character to appear, and one of my CPU cores is maxed out during that time. TextMate and other editors are apparently unaffected.
I'm using version 3.1.3 on a C2D 2.8Ghz MacBook Pro with 8GB of RAM. It's not the fastest thing, but this isn't exactly a supercomputing workload. ;)
After selecting multiple lines (40 lines makes it quite bad) for editing (using option+drag), moving to the beginning/end of words (option+arrows) and even moving the cursor (arrows) horizontally has a noticeable delay.
Doing the same operations in TextMate seems to be just as smooth as only editing on one line. This slowness makes the feature unpleasant to use--I find myself switching back and forth between Chocolat and TextMate to avoid this.
I'm seeing this slowness on a Late 2013 Retina MacBook Pro with a 2.6 GHz processor and 16 GB of RAM.
This bug is present in version 2.1.
