:1 or :$ are the frequent vim commands I use to navigate to a given line number. Though I can use gg or <line_num>gg I feel its good to be comprehensive and this area is an important while getting first impression to a new user.
Few other vim commands are not working as well.
<< or >> are supposed to indent left and right. Similarly 5>> will indent 5 lines right.
