Issue
Skill point in almost every context means a number added to a roll. Therefore a player familiar with other RPGs will see "I have a total of 5 points to add to d100 rolls?" and think it's almost meaningless.
We actually have a reroll / "roll X and take highest" system. Calling them "skill dice" sounds natural to me, coming from Shadowrun where we often say "I have 12 dice in shooting your face" or whatever. "Skill rolls" has also been suggested but a 'roll' is used a lot in other text. "Skill rerolls" or "Skill tries" might also work, though the latter might require us to specify that everyone starts with a 1 in everything.
