Introduce Memo sub-project and post another update #123

We've been working on this branch since June, and finally feel we have enough code in place to put something on master. Previously, we've referred to this system as Eon, but we've decided to call it Memo instead. Sorry for the name gyrations but we think it's important to like the name of the thing you are working on and Eon was chosen hastily.

We still have a ways to go. There's more details in the update and the Memo README.
