This is a little more hypothetical than the rest of the reconstruction, but it's necessary to explain why we think the pit below is a cesspit for a toilet. Can we put a closet made of wood, with a door where indicated, in the corner of the room above room 38, and cut a hole in the floor over the pit? Ideally this hole would go right through, so the user could look down and see the pit below. There might have been a pipe, I guess, but I can't see any evidence for it.
