@s-u makes the point in #2704 that often you are looking at the newer fork and want to merge these changes back into one of your notebooks.

It's slightly more complicated but why not?

Seems like there could be a modifier key for this alternate behavior.

If the merge is accepted I would think that the target notebook would be opened.

The current icon would work best for "merge current notebook into", because it points from the current notebook into the other notebook.
