I suspect you downloaded the binary file - and never checked out svn.
(Never saw the dimmed tabs on the prefpane before though...)

Try finding a 404-not found in your accesslogs; I have this queer feeling you
didn't update your syncservices
.plists
You should be able to find some notes about those in the issues/howto's.
The syncservices .plists can be found here:

http://code.google.com/p/dotmac/source/browse/#svn/trunk/server/var/www/dotmac/c
onfiguration/config

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Don't mind _those_ 404's (your client is polling for hidden folders there -
which is considered default behaviour)

Try checking if the following folder:
/Library/WebServer/dotmac/configuration/configurations/internetservices/syncserv
ices
contains the file: clientConfiguration-10.5.9
if not; you'll need to download it by hand - as explained in issue 79;
http://code.google.com/p/dotmac/issues/detail?id=79
(you'll only want to substitute 10.5.3 mentioned there by 10.5.9 off course)

Ok - this kind of baffles me...

it seems like your https traffic is handled ok ( your perl modules answer
correctly to the dotMacPreferencesPaneMessage request; so your perlmodules seem
to be working as well )

Have you verified if your /etc/hosts sports all entries twice (once normally -
and once 'dotted' ?)

If you have the chance; try tracing all traffic when you open your system prefs
/ dotmac prefpane (with
wireshark, charles, ...)
We might have missed an added host.

Also try creating a real .mac account (trial) - and switching back to your own
server.

Please post back your results.

My time is quite limited - but I'll try keeping up with this issue; you're the
first mentioning this problem - so
this is still regarded a userissue.
Any users with similar experiences are invited to jump into the subject of
course.

Hi been starting from scratch again.
And keeping a close eye on any logs related.

When trying the sync tab again in prefs windows, i saw this appear
24/01/09 04:21:08 System Preferences[8226] There was an error loading
SyncView.nib. Please report this to
Apple.

So searching for this file,
And it looks like few files are missing in
/System/Library/PreferencePanes/Mac.prefPane/Contents/Resources

Then just for test i cpoied these missing file from the french language and
voila.
They both appear now

Just have to learn french now :)

I'm sorry if I used some of your time.
But big big thx
