Supply count as deadline #81

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
It would feel more natural if the deadline for a way-point/final could be
supply count. An option to switch between time&supply count would be nice.

Using version v0017.

Or better an army value. Actually Blizz is using army value (min and gas) to
balance the game. The test diffrent army of the same value against each other.

I think this would be most eficient as you can put WP with army value so you
can defend while macro. You don`t know what is the optimum mix you can get
because this is a result of larva min and gas cap or even time.

Why bother having army value or supply?

You explicitly state what units to make, thereby the supply and army value is
already being entered by the user.

The only thing I could see is "get 100 supply making roaches as fast as
possible", but that seems somewhat useless and arbitrary. Am I missing
something?

It would help to line up builds with those from other races. E.g. on a 4-gate
we know the 3rd and 4th gates would usually go down at 30 supply. This might
not match up exactly with zerg supply, but it gives a better indication than
game time alone, which isn't readily available for most build orders.

This would cause strange behavior, as the ga would likely seek to slower builds
that optimize supply, since supply is so dynamic. Also can cause issues with
destinations, as build could terminate with the minimum supply before reaching
destination, and so economy would suffer.

Game time is absolute and deterministic.
