Feature Request: Mica Material for Applications #223

Open diegopvlk opened 2 years ago

Windows 11 has a nice effect for blurred apps: instead of blurring the contents behind, it only blurs the wallpaper and uses that as background. This makes the apps have the colors of your wallpaper and increases performance, which is nice.

Would something like this be possible with this extension?

Hello, thank you for the idea!

I will see what I can do about this, this would be actually probably less buggy than the current applications blur, but it would require quite a lot of work.

I will keep you updated!

So what's the status for this nowadays? Will it perform good on the newer versions? I see application blur makes GNOME Shell really CPU hungry :)

aunetx commented 4 months ago

@joaquinvacas that's coming very soon! I'm trying to improve a little bit the state of things for the new pipelines thing, but once it's finalised I should be able to easily add it to applications too (so that you can have mica blur, or static gaussian blur, or whatever you want)

Hey aunetx. Mac OS has translucency effects. i think that is not hard to do it, it will be a huge upgrade for the Blue my shell extension !!!

This screenshot shows a dock and panel without the "translucent" which is like a filter that makes the effect which is visible in the second screenshot
