Whoever wants to take the first tack on this problem, please do write a few paragraphs describing your vision of this catalog app. Then the next person does the same - and I will grab the right to do it last, as I spent likely more time thinking about this than anyone in our team.

First thoughts:

a catalog of plugins
each of them being a catalog of gists
links to existing documentation pages (f.i. the SpoonX plugins all have GitBook docs)
would it be possible (or even desirable) to switch UI toolkits for UI plugins? So that SyncFusion looks more SyncFusion-ish than Kendo..

Second thought: integrated api docs browser, either links to documentation or even (by reading the GitBook repos) integrating the books into the super catalog. Installation wizards like you mentioned before, maybe even "pacman" (whatever it will be called, you know what I mean) configs, editable for maintainers of plugins, etc.

Aurelia/the hub definitely needs a forum. Gitter is not very good for searching specific topics. There could be a forum (per plugin?) in super cat where users can share their thoughts/experience/recipes/custom elements (<-- !!!). :smiley:
