I've implemented:

handling of symbolic links
correct behaviour in situation when file doesn't exist and cannot be created
correct behaviour in situation when multiple files are given to the script

Tested and it only prints the canonical path without actually opening the file on the local system.

With that fixed this would be a great addition.

Yes, some nice stuff in these patches. Unfortunately i've not had time to test it on all my different systems :( ... yet. Hope i will find some time next week.

Great, sounds good. Either way symlink editing should be fixed somehow :)
