When the broadcast tries to start initially, it will make requests to the hardware to start, however, it doesn't currently check the status of the ESP. It would be helpful to first check the status of the ESP and notify if the ESP is not reporting. This would typically indicate that the rig has gone flat and has not yet booted back up, this would help debugging.
