At present, variables can only be retrieved in the following ways:
GetVariable: gets a single variable by its key.
GetVariablesBySite: gets all variables for a site, optionally restricted by the given scope.
It is proposed to add a GetVariables which returns all of the variables for which the key matches a substring, optionally restricted by scope and by time.
