Addon not working on XBMC 11 / ATV2 #2

"@MelbAust The original issue has been resolved. You should open a new issue, and make sure you are using the latest version (1.1.0) of this plugin and if you're still having issues then you should send me a copy of the XBMC log output which should be located at /Users/frontrow/Library/Application Support/XBMC/temp/xbmc.log and put it in something like pastebin.com.

Thanks"

Andy,

Thank you for your reply. I re-installed version 1.1.0 but am still experiencing the same problem. As you suggested I have added the log output to pastebin.com as a guest under the title "MelbAust_iview 1.1.0. I hope it's something obvious to you. I have been reading forums, removing catchup tv and re-installing iview from zip without success.

Thanks again.

andybotting commented 12 years ago

Can you send me the URL of your paste?

Sorry Andy this is new to me. FYI, I just installed ABC News 24 which worked in the past. The stream(video) will appear for less than a second and then throw me out. Other streaming video works so it appears to be specific to the ABC and I'm guessing something I have done.

Thanks.

andybotting commented 12 years ago

Thanks for that.

Looks to me like it should be working fine. Most times I see problems, it's during the connection phase of streaming the video. In your case, the connection looks to succeed and begin.

Is this the same problem you're seeing with the ABC News 24 plugin? Does it start, then stop immediately?

Some things you can try are:

Thanks

MelbAust commented 12 years ago

Hi Andy,

Yes ABC News starts and stops but the difference is I see a split second of the video before being dropped. With iView I see nothing at all, only the "working" symbol in the bottom right hand corner of the screen but then it drops out.

In answer to your questions:

7Plus works as does the AFL Viewer. Is there a cache within XBMC that could cause issues. At this point would you recommend I backup (minus configuration) and re-install XBMC.

Thanks for your time.

andybotting commented 12 years ago

I've received a report from another user trying to use iView on an ATV also using Exetel - but I don't know if there is any correlation though.

Have you tried using this plugin in XBMC on your PC? That might help narrow down the problem.

I wouldn't recommend reinstalling XBMC - I doubt it will help.

MelbAust commented 12 years ago

Thanks Andy, Hope to find some time on the weekend. Is either Windows version or XBMCbuntu acceptable. Last night I thought I'd be smart and try to install your addon on a XBMCbuntu live USB created using LiLi but it said it lacked dependencies.

Will let you know how I get on.

tortfeaser commented 12 years ago

I have this same issue. Log at http://pastebin.com/frAYkFQH

If I select an episode to watch in iView I get the waiting spinner in the bottom right, but then I'm bounced back to to the episode list. The stream doesn't start.

This is addin v 1.1.0, on AppleTV2 Eden 11.0. FWIW, my ISP is Exetel also, but maybe that's a red herring.

Other streaming addins work. ABC24 works.

MelbAust commented 12 years ago

tortfeaser, in some way it's nice to know I'm not the only one having trouble. Please let us know if you manage to resolve it.

Over the weekend I attempted to install XBMC 11.0 on Windows but it would freeze on the splash screen. I was able to install XBMC 10.1 and in this version iView would work. I hope this is of some assistance. If nothing else but to rule out Exetel. I think the fact that ABC24 works for tortfeaser points to something else.

I also deleted the files in the video cache folders on the ATV2 in the hope it might achieve something but to no effect.

Andy, hope you had a good weekend and pulled up ok. sdt mentioned being jealous and I'd second that.

MelbAust commented 12 years ago

Not sure if it was because I deleted the cache files (can't imagine why) however my ATV is now continually rebooting. Tried SSHing into it but so far without success. Will try again later but may have to re-jailbreak the ATV. If I do need to re-install XBMC I will reply if iView is then working.

OzLefty commented 12 years ago

It stopped working when I went from xbmc 10 to xbmc 11. (atv2) If you select episodes nothing happens.

I'm trying to downgrade to 10.0.7 but the closest I get gives me errors on dependencies.

I also can't figure out how to install 1.2.0 of this plugin - I can add the catchup au thing from the repositories add-on (which was just a matter of installing from a zip) but if I try to install the zip of this plugin directly it says it's not the right structure.

Very keen to get iview working again. Miss it.

andybotting commented 12 years ago

Hi OzLefty,

I haven't built a zip file for version 1.2.0 yet. I'll put it into the catch up TV AU repo once I have.

I'm beginning to think that there is a problem with rtmp on the atv2.

It seems I'm going to have to buy an atv2 now to try and work out this problem. Can you confirm it works OK on a Windows/Mac/Linux version of XBMC? On Jun 20, 2012 3:04 PM, "OzLefty" < reply@reply.github.com> wrote:

New zip file has been built for v1.2.0, and it's available from the Download section of the github project and also through the XBMC CatchUpTV AU repository (you'll have to manually refresh for it, I think).

It's mostly UI updates, so I doubt it will fix your problem. In the mean time, I'm going to try and source an ATV2.

OzLefty commented 12 years ago

Thanks mate! I'll give it a try.

When I click on the zip download link above it sends through the same file which xbmc won't install (says there's a structure error).

Only have xmbc on the atv2 so can't check it with anything else unfortunately.

Is there a straightforward way of uninstalling xbmc 11 and going back to xbmc 10 when it worked? (xbmc 11 has also broken most of the other catch up tv add-ons)

andybotting commented 12 years ago

Here's a thought. Can you call send me through which version of RTMPdump you've got installed?

If you log in by SSH and type 'rtmpdump' on the command line, it should show something like this:

RTMPDump v2.4 (c) 2010 Andrej Stepanchuk, Howard Chu, The Flvstreamer Team; license: GPL ERROR: You must specify a hostname (--host) or url (-r "rtmp://host[:port]/playpath") containing a hostname

cheers

tortfeaser commented 12 years ago

Hi, sorry, GitHub email got sent to spam.

I've updated to 1.2.0 of the addon in ATV2 with Eden, and in Win7 with Eden.

The ATV install has the same behaviour as before, see http://pastebin.com/X3VtT4tW. If I select an episode to watch in iView I get the waiting spinner in the bottom right, but then I'm bounced back to to the episode list. The stream doesn't start.

The Win7 install works - I can view iView videos with XBMC.

So its not related to Exetel as the ISP and the problem isn't fixed with v 1.2.0 (as you indicated might happen).

Thanks for continuing to look into it.

tortfeaser commented 12 years ago

Hi Andy.

I get a command not found with rtmpdump

Bedroom-Apple-TV:~ root# rtmpdump -sh: rtmpdump: command not found Bedroom-Apple-TV:~ root# find / -name rtmpdump Bedroom-Apple-TV:~ root# Bedroom-Apple-TV:~ root#

tortfeaser commented 12 years ago

Couldn't find package rtmpdump to install either.

andybotting commented 12 years ago

OK, thanks for checking.

Could I also ask you what version of iOS you're running?

tortfeaser commented 12 years ago

iOS 4.2.1

Not so keen to update to iOS 5 if I can avoid it, apparently sucks resources.

OzLefty commented 12 years ago

Typed in rtmpdump at the Apple-TV:~ root# prompt, and it said -sh: rtmpdump: command not found.

MelbAust commented 12 years ago

Just to add my 2 cents worth. Previously I was on ATV2 4.4.4 but would only get the loading spinner when running iView 1.1.0. I've have also just restored and installed the current iOS5 but this time installed iView 1.2.0 however the result is the same; the loading spinner runs but then no stream.

MelbAust commented 12 years ago

My apologies.

OzLefty commented 12 years ago

That worked! It took me a bit of tinkering with puTTY to figure out how to actually do that (how to send the file remotely to the ATV etc) but it fixed the problem! Kudos.

Hi. I have been having the same problem. I tracked it down to a problem with librtmp on the ATV2.

To fix it I:

Download an updated version from here:

http://supercloudtv.com/librtmp.html

unzipped it

copied librtmp.0.dylib to /Applications/XBMC.frappliance/Frameworks

chown mobile.mobile librtmp.0.dylib chmod a+x librtmp.0.dylib

rebooted the ATV and it was all good.

Great news... and great timing. I was going buy an ATV2 today, but I think I'll wait until they jailbreak the ATV3.

I'll make a note of this in the README file for the project.

Thanks everyone.

OzLefty commented 12 years ago

For noobs like me you might want to suggest they use something like puTTY and do it in two steps, step 1 being using the ftp program to copy it across (using the "put" command) and step 2 being using the ordinary shell program to do the chmod and other line.

For n00bs, I would probably recommend using something like WinSCP and sending it over that way.. and then use PuTTY for the rest. Thoughts?
